For the Spring, Summer and Fall 2020 our patio was our refuge. While we did get out on the local rail trails for daily walks, most other outside activities were limited. Our patio and backyard have a simple garden, nothing fancy, and the mix of flowering perennials keep us in colors throughout the season. In addition, we had patio planters with our herb garden, a potted cherry tomato plant, and a beautiful Hibiscus, Kathie’s Mother’s Day gift from the kids. That Hibiscus was the gift that kept on giving, providing continuous blossoms right up to late autumn giving us beautiful explosions of color every day.
The array of plants around the yard became subjects of many photographs and videos. This helped keep the photography skills intact. The early blooms on our old apple tree and the Irises started everything off in early Spring. Then in late spring came the Peonies and Shasta Daisies, followed in Summer by our different varieties of Day Lilies and the purple Blazing Star, a hit with the bees.
The herb pots with plenty of Basil, plus some Thyme, Tarragon, Parsley, Oregano, Rosemary and Chives, gave us plenty ingredients to enhance our summer menus.
In the next "Patio Adventures 2020" post we will checkout all the critters that were sharing our patio.
